May 1 to May 4, 2009 ABSTRACT Supply Chain Management delivers a considerable amount of ideas and methods to design the value stream. Each of these concepts may lead to significant cost reduction and higher service levels. But the same concept does not work for different customers and their diverse needs. Thus, a “one size fits it all” supply chain cannot lead to success. The key to overcome this obstacle is the hybrid supply chain. This paper outlines the application of hybrid system theory to supply chains. After a comprehensive overview of existing methods for the design of supply chains is given, a methodology for a customer-to-customer oriented supply chain design is presented. This approach adopts the hybrid system theory to supply chains which is in a nutshell that hybrid systems use the advantages of its subsystems to reach a superior result to one system alone. Concluding a case study illustrates the application of the methodology.Supply Chain Management delivers a considerable amount of ideas and methods to design the value stream. Optimal design of supply chain network under uncertainty environment using hybrid analytical and simulation modeling approach

Models that aim to optimize the design of supply chain networks have gained more interest in the supply chain literature. Mixed-integer linear programming and discrete-event simulation are widely used for such an optimization problem. We present a hybrid approach to support decisions for supply chain network design using a combination of analytical and discrete-event simulation models. The prop...

Competitive Supply Chain Network Design Considering Marketing Strategies: A Hybrid Metaheuristic Algorithm

In this paper, a comprehensive model is proposed to design a network for multi-period, multi-echelon, and multi-product inventory controlled the supply chain. Various marketing strategies and guerrilla marketing approaches are considered in the design process under the static competition condition. The goal of the proposed model is to efficiently respond to the customers’ demands in the presenc...

Coordination of Pricing, Ordering, and Lead time Decisions in a Manufacturing Supply Chain

In this paper, an incentive policy is proposed to coordinate ordering, lead time, and pricing strategies in a two-echelon manufacturing supply chain (SC) consisting of one manufacturer and one retailer. The system is faced with a stochastic demand which depends on both price and lead time. The manufacturer decides on production size and manufacturing acceleration rate while the retailer determi...

Balanced evaluation of suppliers performance by applying a hybrid DEMATEL-DEA approach in presence of undesirable factors

One of the most complicated decision making problems for managers in supply chain is the evaluation of supply chain performance which can be done in different ways. Though several studies have been developed on supply chain performance evaluation based on balanced scorecard (BSC), a few studies focused on relationships among four perspectives of BSC. This paper focuses on these relationships, e...

Applying queuing theory for a reliable integrated location –inventory problem under facility disruption risks

This study considers a reliable location – inventory problem for a supply chain system comprising one supplier, multiple distribution centers (DCs), and multiple retailers in which we determine DCs location, inventory replenishment decisions and assignment retailers to DCs, simultaneously. Each DC is managed through a continuous review (S, Q) inventory policy. For tackling real world conditions...
